social justice & your work: trans* inclusion.

As of April 6th, the trans* inclusion session of this series is cancelled. Please consider attending Lauren’s Power & Money session on April 17th!

This workshop is part of a 3-session series on Social Justice & Your Work—a collaboration with my co-conspirators, Lauren Roberts and Charlie Redd, designed for entrepreneurs and small business owners who might be looking to incorporate anti-racism, trans* inclusion, and anti-capitalist practices into their professional lives.

In this trans* inclusion workshop, we’ll explore awareness around transgender* identity and language as a vital component for creating safer spaces, why our individual and collective healing is tied to breaking down cis-hetero norms, and how we can practice inclusivity and allyship with the LGBTQ+ community.

This will be an online learning opportunity for entrepreneurs of any kind who might be looking to broaden their understanding of gender and gender-based dynamics.

We’ll spend some time grounding, creating shared culture and frameworks, unpacking the difference between biological sex, gender, and sexual orientation, exploring pronouns, what to do when you mess up, and the nuances of the word trans*, along with actionable steps you can take to be an ally for trans* folks.

Social location, proximity to power, and intersectionality will be core themes woven throughout our time together.

The practice of allyship requires action—it requires a dedicated commitment to interrupting harm as it occurs, to understanding our own privileged identities, to centering impact over intent, and to investigating our internalized biases relating to gender assumptions and trans* identity.
